To Educate

Even where one of the best educational opportunities is offered, school remains much a failure. Years of A’s serve only as representatives of how much of life was wasted learning things that have already been forgotten. Yet if given the chance to do it all over again, nothing would change, for society demands the same worthless process in order to attain success—at least for those of us with no natural talents.
But the best part is that life only gets harder. When you’re unemployed and living in your parents’ basement, you’d wish to return to right now when you still had family, friends, food, laughter…a future. So with neither the leisure to feel frustration or despair as you deserve none, all that’s left is being. Because life is good. Every living moment is beautiful, though how often moments are actually lived is another matter. But what more could a member of the suburban middle class ask for? Being so perfectly unextraordinary. I haven’t lived nearly long enough to know.
